Have bike, will travel…
Hello everyone and welcome to my cycling, walking and healthy lifestyle blog, where I share my experiences of travelling around Great Britain and tips on healthy living. Unlike most people I’m vegetarian and don’t drive a car, relying on public transport, my bike and my feet to get around. People often ask if this is for environmental reasons or to save money. No, no really, although they’re good incentives for healthy living. I just enjoy the variety of vegetarian food and never got into learning to drive when I was 17 – and liked getting around on my own steam, (even though travelling on British public transport is unusually a challenge!)
I equally love rural and urban landscapes; from the hustle and bustle of the city to the quiet and calm of the countryside. It’s a delight to discover hidden stories within a place, such as the rusting industrial remnants by a canal, the construction of a London skyscraper or saving a rural village pub.
I hope to inspire people to become more active and healthy by going outdoors. There’s something spiritual about connecting to nature and going at your own pace. It’s common knowledge that a sedentary lifestyle, eating junk food and being unable to switch off from social media is damaging for your physical and mental health, but small lifestyle changes, such as eating more fruit and veg, makes a big difference. Besides, cooking healthy dishes, cycling and walking with friends and family (or alone) is fun and good for you! And who says you can’t have a slice of cake after a long cycle ride or walk?
So go explore, discover and experience the great outdoors!
